Animal Embodiment

Tutor: Drew Sinclair and William Frey

Aims: For participants to have a basic understanding of the therapeutic benefits of embodiment and animal movements, how movement, breath and the seasons relate to the different organs in the body. What The four foundational senses are and how do they affect how we see the world

Content:

Shake and breath Chi Gong style. (for grounding and becoming aware of the body)

Simple song and dance to connect with our bodies and each other (We all learn a dance and move in unison)

Stretch and play. Move around the space as animals, and play games (Warming up the body)

Discuss the therapeutic benefits of embodiment and the four foundational senses

Indigenous Movements, The 3 key movement patterns to maintain throughout our lives and how the 4 seasons relate to movement and our internal organs.

Outcomes:

How movement and breath can ground and balance an individual

To listen to the body and become aware of how it naturally wants to move.

To 4 seasons relate to movement, diet and our internal organs

The value of Animal embodiment practice and how it relates to the 3 fold body and a human being's development.

To become childlike.

Therapeutic Origami

Tutor: Drew Sinclair

Aims: For participants to have a basic understanding of Origami

One of the amazing things about origami is that you can take a flat piece of paper and turn it into a three-dimensional object.

When we practice origami, we are activating our whole brain. It has long been known that origami has many benefits like developing eye-hand coordination, sequencing skills, memory, attention skills, patience, and math reasoning.

Content:

Basics of Origami and its history

Discuss the therapeutic benefits of Origami

• Make 3 Origami sculptures. 1st Simple, 2nd medium and 3rd hard.
