Freedom of Information

Maiden Newton Parish Council is fully committed to the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and it was in the spirit of this act that this web site was created.

The FOIA came into full force on 1st January 2005. Under the act all authorities have to publish a “Publication Scheme”. This effectively gives a list of all the documents that the Council publishes as a matter of course. In addition to documents listed in the Publication Scheme other MNPC documents are available under the FOIA. MNPC’s Publication Scheme will be published here shortly.

Requests for information should be made in writing, which includes e-mails. The request must state the name and address of the person applying for the information and the required information. Documents are supplied at 10 pence per A4 sheet plus postage where appropriate.

The complete FOIA can be found here. Much more information is available from the Information Commissioner.
