What impact do the undertones of racism, oppression and being classed as ‘other’ have on the BAME community? How does it affect our mind, body, and our confidence? Are we even fully aware of it? Our families as well as ourselves may suffer but rarely discuss it. Why is this, and what would it look like if we could tackle these issues by bringing them to light through mindfulness?
This is an opportunity to spend the day in a safe meditative space, addressing these situations relevant to our communities, and receiving support that is unique to MBBT.
We are a group of black and ethnic minority teachers addressing the lack of mindfulness-based services in our communities; and equipping those communities with tools to handle and alleviate the stresses unique to their background.
These retreat days will provide a meditative and unified space to speak our truths to enable us to release, heal and grow. We invite you to come and share your stories, or just listen to those of others.
The day will include walking and sitting meditation, discussion, mindful movement and practicing noble silence. Also mindful sitting, dharma reading and mindful movement. And will end with a peaceful and inspiring dedication ceremony for all participants to take part in.
We are not affiliated with an institution, religion and have no funding .
Please bring food to share, personal cushions/mats etc
